On May 23, 2025, Morgan Rowe and RavenLaw summer student Sydney Sloane attended the one-day disability rights symposium, hosted by Osgoode Hall Law School. The symposium, titled “Bridging Disability Accommodations from Clinical Education Programs to Practice”, is a first-of-its-kind event, intended to address barriers to law students with disabilities through panel discussions, small group sessions, and workshops, with attendees including disability community experts and people with lived experience, law students, lawyers, and law school staff and representatives.

In addition to participating in the symposium, Sydney presented as part of the morning panel on the experiences of law students with disabilities, addressing particularly experiences of and access to clinical legal education and accommodation for these students across Ontario.

On May 29, 2025, Claire Boychuk will be presenting at the County of Carleton Law Association’s Annual Equity Conference. Claire will be speaking on the employment law panel DEI under Threat: Free Expression in Tumultuous Times.  

This panel will explore scenarios where employees have faced repercussions for speaking out on political issues, including expression that takes place inside and outside the workplace. Through these scenarios, the panelists will unpack the legal protections available to employees, the responsibilities of employers, and how organizations can navigate the tension between diversity, equity, inclusion, and expression in the workplace.

On May 13, 2025, Claire Boychuk will be presenting at the Law Society of Ontario’s half-day program, “The Eight-Minute Employment Lawyer 2025”. The program offers a concise update on key developments on a range of employment law topics. Claire will be presenting on updates in the law on reasonable notice of termination and notice periods.

On May 8, 2025, Dayna Steinfeld will be speaking on the Lancaster House panel “Relative Accommodations: An update on family status discrimination (childcare, eldercare, spousal responsibilities, etc)”.

The webinar will discuss the different tests for prima facie discrimination on the basis of family status across the country, and the uncertainty in the law given the lack of clear guidance from the Supreme Court of Canada. The panel will critically examine how decision-makers address the growing range of family status claims and explore emerging trends in this area of law.

On March 27, 2025, Raphaëlle Laframboise-Carignan presented a webinar to The Dementia Society of Ottawa & Renfrew County.  The session addressed how to navigate workplace concerns as a caregiver, including discussing topics like the employer’s duty to accommodate caregivers and the benefits available to employees in these circumstances.

On March 25, 2025, Keagan Davis-Burns will be participating in a panel discussion with other lawyers in the labour and employment bar and with Queen’s University Faculty of Law professors. The panel discussion, hosted by the Queen’s Law Labour and Employment Club, will provide law students with insights into careers and experiences in labour and employment law.
