After more than thirty years at our firm, James leaves private practice to become a mediator/arbitrator. While this will benefit the employment and labour community at large, his presence will be tremendously missed at our firm.

James was a founding member of Raven Law. He successfully represented unions and their members throughout this period, including postal workers in a decades-long pay equity dispute that ended at the Supreme Court of Canada. More recently, James led our employment and disability practice groups. His body of work was recognized last year when he was inducted as a Fellow by the College of Labour and Employment Lawyers.

At the firm, James was committed to seeing other lawyers grow their own practices. He always had time to listen and mentor, through lunches, informal chats in offices or phone calls. And of course, his factoids. James seldom misses an opportuity to share little-known facts, to think about other things than work and to keep learning.

Every person at our firm benefitted from James’ skill and passion, mentorship and leadership.
