Articling Student

Sydney Sloane (she/her) is an articling student based in the firm’s Ottawa office.

Sydney’s passion for advocacy has taken many forms over the years. During her undergraduate degree, she honed her skills through extracurriculars like Model UN, on-campus roles with the Student Justice Centre and students’ union, or academic pursuits such as her honours thesis on female athlete activism and her internship with a progressive MPP.

Sydney moved to Ottawa in 2023 to take her commitment to social justice advocacy further through the University of Ottawa’s Juris Doctor program. While in law school, Sydney helped coordinate the Ottawa Pro Bono Employment Law Legal Clinic, was a Social Justice Fellow with Level Justice, researched disability accommodations with The Ottawa Hospital, and worked on interventions at ONCA and the SCC with the Samuelson-Glushko Canadian Internet Policy and Public Interest Clinic. She also mooted all three years of law school and has won awards for both her written and oral advocacy skills. Sydney was grateful to work at RavenLaw as a Summer Student in 2025 and had the immense privilege of learning from the team at the Human Rights Legal Support Centre during her secondment.

Sydney graduated cum laude in 2026 and is thrilled rejoin the firm as an articling student. Outside of law, Sydney enjoys trying to perfect her matcha latte ratios, trivia nights with her friends, and watching women’s rugby.
