Canadian Charter of Rights & Freedoms
Our firm provides advice and representation to individuals, unions, and organizations respecting the rights and freedoms guaranteed by the Charter of Rights. We have presented cases before courts at all levels, including the Supreme Court of Canada, on important issues including freedom of expression, freedom of association, and equality rights.
We act as counsel for plaintiffs in Charter challenges to legislation or government actions, addressing issues like the right of RCMP officers to unionize, the exclusion of pension benefits to same sex partners, the appropriation of the surplus in a public service pension plan, and the preference given to Canadian citizens in federal public service employment.
