Michael completed his articles with Raven, Cameron, Ballantyne & Yazbeck LLP, and currently practices in the areas of labour and employment law, human rights, and administrative law.

As a law student, Michael worked for community legal clinics in Ottawa providing advice and representation to low-income clients on a variety of civil matters, including employment and human rights law. Michael also represented persons with disabilities who had been denied Ontario Disability Support Program benefits.

Before studying law, Michael worked in the non-profit sector as a project coordinator, researcher, and policy analyst on indigenous rights issues, particularly in respect of the Métis of western Canada. His advocacy efforts primarily focussed on the right to health, research ethics, and language revitalization.
